Sheremetyevo实现2008年经营目标, JSC International Airport Sheremetyevo

At an annual press conference headed by Mikhail Vasilenko, General Director of Sheremetyevo International Airport, on March 18, 2009, results of 2008 were reviewed and a strategic plan for a 20-year prospective was presented.

As an introduction, Mikhail Vasilenko noted that record passenger traffic figures were achieved over 2008: in total, 15,214,000 passengers (a 8.4% increase y-o-y) were serviced and 969,000 passengers were transported within the charter program (a 85% increase y-o-y). Apart from that, the profit of Sheremetyevo grew 15% up to 7.217 billion rubles; gross profit reached 1.663 billion rubles with a 22% growth. Mikhail Vasilenko especially noted a 38% increase of profit share coming from non-aviation commercial activity; this level is one of the best rates in Russia in this category.

Over 2008, five new carriers moved in to Sheremetyevo: Hellas Jet, Blue Wings, Armavia, Nord Wind, PIA; Malev (Hungary) and Hainan Airlines (China) are to start regular flights from Sheremetyevo in March, 2009. Total route network of Sheremetyevo includes 130 destinations.

Given a 90% share in the regular flights structure, stable position of Aeroflot, Sheremetyevo’s basic carrier, and other main partner airlines, the current financial and economic situation is stable. The generated cash flow is sufficient to finance the current activities and the most important investment programs and to provide social and financial support to several thousands of employees and their families.

In 2009 Sheremetyevo commissions the largest multiterminal facility in Russia with a capacity of 25 mln people which will join three terminals and a railway station. The new terminal will have a single transit zone and will be a comfortable and well-equipped site for operation and development of a hub for Sky Team and other carriers. According to the approved master plan of the airport’s development till 2030, Sheremetyevo will be among the largest European hubs with a passenger flow of 60 mln people and cargo processing capacity of over 1.1 mln t.

As Mikhail Vasilenko reminded the audience, on August 11, 2009 Sheremetyevo celebrates its 50th anniversary.
