Russian ministry of economic development meets the potential residents of Ulyanovsk SEZ, Ulyanovsk SEZ - СЭЗ "Ульяновск-Восточный"

Moscow, July 29: Russian ministry of economic development held first meeting of Expert Council chaired by O.Savelyev who reviewed three projects by aviation companies wishing to start operating in Ulyanovsk Special Economic Zone

The first candidate for residency in Ulyanovsk SEZ is Vityaz Aviation Corporation (Russia) who, together with Viking, its Canadian partner, plans to create assembly of the renowed DHC-6 Twin Otter-series 400 jets in Ulyanovsk SEZ.

S.Anzyferov, general director of Vityaz, explained that this project did not threaten the position of Russian aircraft manufacturers on the market and commented on the relations of Vityaz and Viking and on the terms of the project. "We are starting assembly of the jets in Q3 2012", said Anzyferov.

Volga-Dnepr Technics Ulyanovsk, daughter company of Volga-Dnepr and the second potential resident reviewed by the Expert Council, presented the project of a MRO hangar for wide-body and ramp jets (An-124-100, В-747) in Ulyanovsk SEZ. The project will be financed by Volga-Dnepr.

The project by Volga-Dnepr Technics Ulyanovsk and the project of the third candidate - FLTechniks Ulyanovsk, daughter company of FLT TradingHouse - were approved as well. FLT TradingHouse, part of AviaSolutionGroup (Lithuania), plans to create a MRO center for narrow-body jets of foreign make. It envisages construction of at least 3 hangars of 5,000 sq. m each.

"We estimate that around 80% of Russian jets of foreign make are not serviced in Russia. Placing hangars for their MRO in Ulyanovsk will allow a significant reduction of the maintenance costs", said Jonas Butautis, general director of FLTechniks.

Resident companies and Russian ministry of of economic development plan to sign agreements and issue resident certificates at the 10th Moscow Aviation and Space Show MAKS-2011 in Zhukovsky on August 16-21.

Ulyanovsk Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a branch of JSC "Special Economic Zones" (www.oao-oez.ru) specialized in aviation production, maintenance and repair and cargo logistics at Ulyanovsk Vostochny airport.
