Release Date: 2011-08-24

At МАКS-2011, Russian Helicopters signed two macrocontracts for delivery of Mi-171 helicopters produced by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (U-UAP). According to the agreements, 40 Мi-171 type helicopters are to be delivered to UTair Aviation and 39 Мi-8АМТ type helicopters – to Gazpromavia. Both contracts were concluded on August 17 in the presence of Vladimir Putin who visited МАКS-2011 on that day.
The previous macrocontract with UTair for 40 Mi-171 helicopters was completed in September 2010. All helicopters were produced and supplied ahead of schedule.

According to the new contract, another 40 Mi-171 helicopters will be delivered to UTair in 2012-2013. For further successful development of new helicopter service markets, UTair needs helicopters that meet high requirements. In this regard, the new certified Mi-171 helicopters are to be produced and delivered in more complex configurations than the previous batch. It is planned that they will be involved in works for oil and gas companies and UN missions in various regions of the world.

39 Mi-8AMT helicopters (export designation Mi-171E) are planned to be delivered to Gaspromavia in 2012-2016. Gaspromavia has huge experience in operation of helicopters produced by U-UAP but it will be the first time that such a large batch will be supplied. Gaspromavia also has high demands to the helicopter configuration. The helicopters will be involved in one of the most difficult types of operations – flights to offshore oil rigs.

Mi-171 helicopters are in stable demand on the global aviation market. At МАКS-2011, U-UAP products were represented by 4 helicopters of Mi-171 type in different configurations. Мi-171Е in VIP configuration for Vertical-Т, as well as Мi-171Е (Мi-8АМТ) helicopter with special equipment there were presented on Russian Helicopters' exposition on static display,

Russian Air Forces presented Мi-8АМТSh troop-carrying helicopter by U-UAP under state defence order in May 2011 to one of MoD bases. Besides, Mi-171E (Mi-8AMT) helicopter of Russian Interior Ministry took part in MAKS flight program.

Leonid Belykh, Managing Director of U-UAP, noted significance of MAKS for his company's business: “МАКS-2011 has become especially productive for U-UAP. We have received two large orders for helicopters. The advanced Mi-171A2 helicopter, which is planned to be produced by U-UAP, was shown to the public at large. We see that well-coordinated work brings results”.
