The year 2010 saw "Ulyanovsk - the aviation capital of Russia" program start in Ulyanovsk region to promote modernization and development of the aviation cluster in the region that is essential for competitive aircraft production and aviation transport on the Russian civil aviation market. Although the project is at zero cycle currently, the results are already visible both in Russia and abroad thanks to some of Ulyanovsk's partners, Vneshaviakosmos among them."Ulyanovsk - the aviation capital of Russia" project will be present at the leading international aviation exhibitions for a host of meetings with the leading world airlines and presentations of the investment prospects of the Russian avation.
At EAA Oshkosh AirVenture in the U.S. on July 25-31, 2011, it is planned to present Ulyanovsk region and hold a round of meetings on the prospects of developing aviation sport in Ulyanovsk.
In late September 2011, it is planned to present "Ulyanovsk - the aviation capital of Russia" project at Aviation Expo China 2011. The International Aviation and Space Show 2011 in Moscow (MAKS 2011) will see a meeting of Ulyanovsk governor with a Beijing delegation concerning the Beijing exhibition and the Ulyanovsk Aviation Forum, and the agreement between the Special Economic Zones of Ulyanovsk and Beijing.
In April 2012, the project of Ulyanovsk region will be presented at Hannover Messe.
One of the aims of working at international events is to expand the aviation transport going through Ulyanovsk region. Good results have been shown at Le Bourget that involved heads of Ulyanovsk region project taking part in talks with Polet airline for direct flights between Ulyanovsk and Europe, and for organization of cargo integration center in Ulyanovsk. Passenger flow and cargo flow will be analyzed to develop the routes.
Talks are also underway with Czech Airlines for Ulyanovsk — Praga flight. Meeting has been appointed with Air Berlin to discuss the potential partnership.
