Moscow, Jan 25. The share of Su jets on the world market of new multitarget fighters reached 35.2% (29,5% in 2005-2009) in 2000-2004 in terms of quantity, according to research on the world market of jet fighters published today by ZAMTO (Center for World Arms Trade Analysis). In 2000-2010, Russia exported 437 aircraft (240 in 2000-2004 and 197 in 2005-2009).
As the research says, Russia's efforts, due to a narrowing on the Chinese market, were focused on diversifying the exports of Su family jets. The right choice of marketing policy gave a few good results: large contracts with Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria, Venezuela and Vietnam. In some of these countries, Russia proved to be a stronger competitor than the leading world manufacturers of multitarget jet fighters.

According to ZAMTO, Lockheed Martin (U.S.) is the leader on the world market of jet fighters, with 300 units (44%) delivered in 2000-2004 and 283 units (42.4%) delivered in 2005-2009. In total, 583 machines were delivered over 2000-2009. Sukhoi (Russia) ranks second and Chengdu (China) ranks third (J-7, J-10, JF-17) with 56 units delivered in 2000-2004 (8.2%) and 34 units (5.1%) delivered in 2005-2009 (90 machines in total). Dassault Aviation (France) ranks fourth according to ZAMTO (Mirage-2000) with 38 units delivered in 2000-2004 (5.6%) and 19 units (2.8%) in 2005-2009 (57 machines). Boeing ranks fifth (F-15, F/A-18) with 10 units (1.5%) delivered in 2000-2004 and 40 units (6%) delivered in 2005-2009 (50 machines in total). RSK MiG (Russia) ranks sixth with 34 units delivered in 2000-2004 (5%) and 8 units (1.2%) delivered in 2005-2009 (42 machines). As ZAMTO notes, MiG is working under a few big export contracts for modernization of MiG jets that were not accounted for in the research. Gripen International (Sweden) ranks seventh with 39 units (JAS-39 Gripen) delivered in 2005-2009 (5.8%). The British BAE Systems ranks eighth with 4 units delivered in 2000-2004 and 24 units delivered in 2005-2009 (28 machines in total). Eurofighter, the European consortium, with EF-2000 Typhoon jets ranks ninth with 23 units delivered in 2005-2009.

In general, the world export volume of new multitarget fighters in 2000-2004 amounted to 682 units (667 in 2005-2009). Total volume of deliveries over 10 years amounted to 1,349 machines.
