Sheremetyevo holds Board Meeting, JSC International Airport Sheremetyevo

Sheremetyevo International Airport holds a the meeting of the Board of Directors chaired by Igor Levitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.The Board was presented a report of Sheremetyevo's operation results for January-July 2010 which shows substantial growth in passenger traffic and the key figures.
In January-July 2010, Sheremetyevo handled 10.621 mln people, a 32.8% increase y-o-y. In July 2010, Sheremetyevo handled 2.123 mln people, a 35.1% increase y-o-y. Integration of D, E, F terminals into the largest airport complex in Russia and Eastern Europe is a very important factor which affected Sheremetyevo's passenger growth in 2010 and enhanced its attractiveness and growing popularity with the passengers and new airlines.
The airport’s management expects that Sheremetyevo would handle over 17.5 mln people by the end of 2010 with the cargo traffic reaching 215,000 tons and over 178,000 flights.
In 2009-2010, Sheremetyevo airport implemented some innovative solutions with the use of IT and electric communication systems including 2-D barcode on boarding cards for easier check-in, Internet check-in, automatic parking laser system in Teminal C, automatic baggage-handling system (in Terminals C and E), free Wi-Fi, digital signaling systems of automated security and fire alarm to improve safety at the airport.
Sheremetyevo International Airport also established an Innovation Council chaired by the Director General of Sheremetyevo International Airport, Mikhail Vasilenko. The Council will be responsible for technological, administrative, marketing and social innovations of the airport.
