Tolmachevo Airport (Novosibirsk) has serviced the first charter flight of Air China Cargo on March 22, 2010

Tolmachevo starts servicing transit flights in the framework of the program of attracting foreign cargo airlines from South-East Asia and Europe to Tolmachevo.

As Alexander Borodin, General Director of Tolmachevo, explains, "We were forming the budget for 2010 taking into account the program of attracting foreign cargo carriers. As of today, the weekly volume of cargo transport between Europe and South-East Asia in financial terms is about USD 5 mln. Today Lufthansa makes 28 flights weekly through Krasnoyarsk (Russia). The rest of the traffic is attributed to Karaganda, Astana, Baku, Tashkent. Tolmachevo is geographically better positioned. Although the airport is yet unable to offer the full range of services, the first step is receiving the Chinese carrier Air China Cargo".

Besides, Borodin mentioned that 15 cargo carriers will join the program in the next 2 years. "This is an approximate figure but we'll try to attract as much carriers as possible".

The investment capacity of the program is about 250 mln rubles. Over 2009, the number of serviced passengers in Tolmachevo fell 15% to 1.8 people.
