Transaero (Saint-Petersburg), the first Russian non-state airline, raised its net profit 3.6-fold in 2009 as compared to 2008 reaching 393.1 mln rubles, according to Transaero's news message
According to the official message, growth of net profit in 2009 is due to a successful tariff management policy and optimization of operational expenses.

Net profit over 2008 amounted to 109.4 mln rubles. The number of transported passengers over 2009 increased 4% to 5.25 mln people.

Transaero was incorporated in 1990 as the first Russian private airline. Transaero's fleet comprises 47 aircraft: 3 Tu-214, 2 Boeing 777, 12 Boeing 747, 11 Boeing 767 and 19 Boeing 737.
