'Ruslan' to be revamped, Focus Communication

A modernized version of the Russian wide-body cargo aircraft An-124-100 (‘Ruslan’) will see the light of day, thanks to a recent agreement by Russia state-run civil United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Ukraine's designer bureau ANTONOV and Russian oversize cargo company Volga Dnper.

On August 19, Victor Livanov, UAC's Vice President for Transport Aviation, Dmitry Kiva, General Designer of ANTK of O.K.Antonov (ANTONOV Aeronautical Scientific/Technical Complex) and Alexey Isaikin, President of Volga-Dnepr Group, signed the technical requirements for the revival, development and manufacture of the revitilized Ruslan.
As many as 280 Russian companies and about 80 Ukrainian plan to participate in the program, explained Mr. Kiva, who also noted that the “upgrade and re-launch of Ruslan's production is currently one of the essential Russia-Ukraine programs, which will allow both countries to maintain their leadership in the market of overweight cargo transport, while contributing to the development of science, technology, and their economies."

Mr. Isaikin added that, “An-124-100 is a new indispensable and comprehensive industrial logistic solution for overweight cargo”.
