MAKS 2009 opens in Moscow, Focus Communication

Release Date: 2009-08-18

Blessed with plenty of sunshine and an afternoon shower, the 9th edition of the international MAKS 2009 airshow opened in Zhukovsky airfield, outside Moscow, with the ambition to bridge Russian and international aviation players, and show the strength and optimistic spirit of the Russian aviation engineering tradition. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin did the honors at the official opening.
In spite of harsh economic conditions in the world, also affecting the Russian aviation industry, MAKS 2009 has new products to showcase and offer: two new regional Sukhoi SuperJets, new samples of controlled weapons and radio location equipment by Russian strategic design bureaus, and numerous other novelties at the joint stands of the newly-created Russian state brands: Russian Technologies, Rosoboronexport (Russian Defense Export), Oboronprom, Russian Helicopters, United Engine Construction Corporation and, of course, the United Aircraft Corporation - with numerous incorporated aviation and engineering companies aiming to fly high.

One of the highlights of MAKS 2009 is the demonstration flights of one of the SuperJet 100 on display, and the premieres of the multifunctional jet fighter Su-35 - and the air-superiority fighters - Su-MKI and MiG-29M-OVT. As Russia´s largest aviation facilities engineering design and constructor, GIPRONIIAVIAPROM, put it, presence in MAKS is a must for Russian and international companies alike: "We are here to show that we're still there, alive and kicking and open to new contacts and partnerships. What happens here is not the big business but where the big business begins - meeting people and getting potentially lucrative contacts," the company´s representatives said.
