EASA: certification of Be-200 to finish in Q3, 2009
Release Date: 2009-06-30
Source: AviaPortMoscow, June 30, Aviaport - During Le Bourget 2009, experts of EASA confirmed accomplishment of all EU certification programs for the firefighting modification of Be-200 amphibian aircraft; the corresponding certificate is to be issued in Q3, 2009, according to a source of AviaPort in the sphere of international scientific and technical cooperation.
As the source says, the European countries, plagued by forest fires, have signed a framework agreement regarding the necessity to create a ‘Eurosquadron’ - link of aircraft from a few countries for firefighting operations. Russia plans to purchase eight aircraft for participation in Eurosquadron’s operations, in addition to the seven Be-200ChS aircraft purchased for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (EMERCOM). These aircraft will have an English-language cockpit produced to meet the EU certificate requirements.
“Previously, the second experimental version of Be-200ChS, purchased by the developer of the aircraft, had been upgraded for the English-language cockpit to complete the certification, and took part in all the certification flights", noted the source.
According to the source, this means confirmation of the Russian type certificate of Be-200ChS and creation of a proper EASA certification on the basis of Russian certification for the amphibian aircraft.
Applications for EASA certification have been arranged for the firefighting modification of Be-200ChS with the anglicized cockpit and an integrated set of modern Russian avionics, and for the multipurpose amphibian aircraft Be-200Е with foreign equipment. Both types of amphibian aircraft are equipped with Russian-Ukrainian produced engine D-436TP.
