Moscow, June 26: SkyTeam is negotiating possible entry of GTK Rossiya in SkyTeam, as Leo M. van Wijk informed the press Friday.

“We’re exchanging information, and preliminary negotiations will be finished shortly", commented van Wijk.

According to van Wijk, the interest of SkyTeam in involving a new carrier is due to the scale of the Russian market. “When it comes to such a large country as Russia, one airline is unable to cover all destinations”.

Leo van Wijk also emphasized that the negotiations of SkyTeam and GTK Rossiya also involved Aeroflot. “The main objective is not to threaten the cooperation with the existing member of the group.

According to earlier information, GTK Rossiya was also negotiating its entry in Oneworld in the second half of 2008. It increased the number of transported passengers by 7.3% in 2008, to almost 3.5 mln people.

GTK Rossiya and Pulkovo have fully completed their merge in 2006. Fleet of GTK Rossiya consists of Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Boeing 737-500, Boeing 767-300 and Tu-154М.
