Paris – Russian Helicopters, JSC, an affiliate of UIC Oboronprom, JSC, is putting some hard work into the Mi-8/17 helicopter modernization programme, together with Russian Avionics and Tranzas Group. According to global helicopter market analysis and forecasts the versatile and modernized Mi-8/17 will be of stable demand until 2020.
Today Russian Helicopters offers customers the best modernization programs they can find on the global market for any Mi-8/17.
“On-board equipment performance conforms to market standards, so our holding is capable of meeting the requirements of Russian and international customers on active fleet updates and new modernized helicopters deliveries,” Andrei Shibitov, the CEO of Russian Helicopters, said.
The unique possibility of constant modernization for this model was ensured by outstanding engineering solutions achieved in the beginning of 1960s by the Moscow Mil Helicopter Plant team. From the outside the helicopter looks basically the same. A new feature on the Mi-8/17 will be a “glass cockpit”, to be implemented in 2009. The internals are being updated regularly – for instance, the helicopter now features a modern avionics suite.
