Le Bourget (France), June 15 (www.RussianAvia.net ) - Recently integrated Russian legendary jet fighter design bureaus Sukhoi and MiG have a combined portfolio worth 8 billion US dollars, the CEO of both companies Mikhail Pogosyan told journalists during a press conference held on the first day of the 48th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. This, he added, ¨represents 40% of all Russian military exports. ¨The prestigious design bureaus have been brought together under the ¨Military Division¨ of United Aircraft Corporation, of which Pogosyan is also Vice President. Cooperation under one umbrella makes Russia´s share in the world jet fighter market close to 20%, Pogosyan added. The ambition, however, is ¨to reach a balance for the jet fighters of 50% of sales in the domestic market and 50% foreign markets,¨ Pogosyan announced, as the companies bank of an increasingly revitalized jet fighter market. Both brands, he said, have a current great product portfolio, ¨From one side the widely accepted MiG 29 and from Sukhoi side SU-30, both very well placed in international markets.¨ But, he added, the future of this unit will also be shaped up by two upcoming products: the 4++ generation Su-35 and the MiG35 jet fighters. Later on,¨There is also the possibility of joint development of future products,¨ he advanced. Another advantage of the new structure will be that MiG and SU will be able to “react on time” and share after sales support, a key factor for future international sales. Currently, MiG has a key program the with Indian Air Forces. Asked about the impact of the current crisis on his business, Pogosyan surprised his audience with a very optimistic attitude; “We are not free of the crisis’ impact, but the crisis boosts quicker decision-making… Problems are usually on the supplier side, so decisions on acquiring new fighter planes usually come faster. Frankly speaking, I like crises because those that survive them, get stronger,” he concluded.
