Le Bourget (France), June 15 (www.RussianAvia.net ) - Sukhoi company expects to produce 70 SuperJet100 planes per year by 2012 and capture 20% of the world market for regional planes, its CEO, Mikhail Pogosyan, told a news conference on the first day of the Paris Air Show, just as the first civil aircraft produced in Russia in the last 2 decades conducted its international debut flight at Le Bourget. No other new planes, such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner or the Airbus A380, were to fly in the 48th edition of the prestigious airshow. Pogosyan, who is also General Director of MIG and Vice President of United Aircraft Corporation, has no doubts the civil aircraft market will flourish thanks to the expected success of the SSJ100, which “has 10-15% cheaper operating costs compared to its analogue competitors from Embraer or Bombardier; is unprecedentedly safe, and has a “superliner” passenger comfort”. In addition, he said, “It will be the greenest aircraft to fly the skies, having been designed according to the stringent Chapter IV noise regulations”.The Superjet 100 project is a family of regional passenger aircraft developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau in cooperation with American and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace, and Honeywell. Pogosyan truly thanked his partners for their contribution to the SSJ100; “We are just moving forward to make SSJ100 a success”, he said. ¨We are proud of having sticked to our plans and I would like everybody to know that Sukhoi is a great brand and will accomplish great international success.¨ The first plane of the family is currently undergoing certification, as it has already completed 40 flights, and more than 100 flight hours. It should be fully certified during the third quarter of 2009.Pogosyan also announced that the company will shift from the former airframer – supplier pattern that characterized Sukhoi to risk-sharing partnerships in the commercial sector.
