ISS Reshetnev & Thales Alenia Space sign memo for strategic satellite partnership, Focus Communication

Le Bourget (France), June 15 (www.RussianAvia.net ) - Russia's leading space company Information Satellite Systems (ISS) Reshetnev and France-based Thales Alenia Space (TAS) have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation to produce satellites, on the first day of the 48th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. The companies will design, build and deliver satellites based on the joint platform Express-4000. The contract implies delivery of satellite devices and units, manufactured for Russian and foreign customers, as well as organization of mutual training for specialists of both enterprises. The next-generation Express –AM5 and Express –AM6 telecommunications satellites will be built on the joint Express-4000 platform to replenish the Russian orbital constellation. The satellites will provide a myriad of communication and broadcasting services and are planned to be in orbit by 2012, for, at least, 15 years. Military cooperation between Reshetnev and TAS is on the rise. Last year, they signed a cooperation memorandum for development and delivery of telecommunications satellite equipment.
