MILEX'2009, Fifth International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment, is taking place on May 19-22, 2009 in Minsk, capital of Belarus, at the National Exhibition Centre BelExpo. Exhibition is organized by Administration of the President of Republic of Belarus, State Military and Industrial Complex, Ministries of Industry and Defense and the National Exhibition Centre BelExpo.
About 140 official delegations from over 40 countries have come to the exhibition, with the Russian exposition represented by State Corporation Russian Technologies. It is the fourth time that Rosoboronexport is participating in MILEX, this year - under the aegis of Russian Technologies. Russian delegation is headed by V.Varlamov, head of the department of Rosoboronexport.

Fourth International Scientific Conference on Military and Technical Issues, sixth meeting of the Interstate Committee for Military and Economic Cooperation and a meeting of the Business Council of the Interstate Committee for Military and Economic Cooperation will take place at the exhibition. The present exhibition has gathered 1.5-fold more both foreign and Belorussian participants, as compared with MILEX-2007.

Rosoboronexport accounts for over 80% of the whole Russia’s arms export. Its exposition (72 sq. m) presents over 160 products in the form of models, films, leaflets, brochures and CDs showing arms and military equipment, devices and ammunition for all types of arms and troops of Russian Army. They are characteristic for high fighting efficiency, reliability, unique tactic and technical characteristics, upgrade programs and attractive prices. Basing on the interests of the potential customers, Rosoboronexport demonstrates new types of aviation equipment including the multipurpose front fighter MiG-35 and training aircraft Yal-13.

Special attention in the Russian exposition is given to export samples of Russian military products created jointly with enterprises of the Belarus’s defense and industry complex, as well as different programs of joint upgrade of arms and military equipment of the first generations.

A wide range of on-ground military products is presented at the Exhibition: armored vehicles BTR-80, BTR-90 developed at the Military and Engineering Centre in Nizhny Novgorod and manufactured at the Arzamas Machine Building Plant. High mobility and durability and strong armament of BTR-90 make it one of the most modern infantry vehicles.

Highly maneuvered and modernized infantry fighting vehicle BMP-3M and T-90S tank, developed on the basis of the legendary T-72, will also be one of the highlights of the exhibition for both professionals and visitors. Small arms and close combat weapons are presented by famous types of grenade launchers, machine guns, rifles, different types of Kalashnikov rifle including the so-called “hundredth” series - АК-101, АК-102, АК-103, АК-104.

Russian exposition shows the latest radioelectronic developments and automated means of troop control allowing more efficient and quicker action.

- In the European countries, the Minsk military show has gained the reputation of an authoritative arms forum that is becoming more and more popular with military experts all over the world, - comments V.Varlamov, head of Rosoboronexport’s delegation. – Participation of our company and of the Russian defense and industrial enterprises in MILEX-2009 is aimed at further enhancement of military cooperation, development of military and technical cooperation of Russia and Belarus, CIS and other European countries. It also envisages a few meetings of the Russian delegation with the representatives of Defense Ministries of different countries that participate in the Forum. I’m confident that these contacts will promote further enhancement of Russia’s profile on the world market of arms and military equipment.
