SITDEF-2009, Second International Defense Technology Exhibition, is to take place in Lima, capital of Peru, on May 21-24, 2009, where the Pacific shore will see representatives of Russian defense industry, among them is the delegation of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosoboronexport.SITDEF is organized by Ministry of Defense of Peru under personal support of Alan Garcia, President of Peru. The exhibition will present armored vehicles and artillery, means of communication, air defense systems, engineering and sanitary equipment, mine sweeping equipment, cars and civil defense property.
According to Rosoboronexport, this exhibition is an excellent opportunity for Russia and Peru to discuss the current and prospective bilateral military and technical cooperation projects. As the Soviet and Russian arms and military equipment have been operated in Peru for many years with an excellent track record, special attention is given to military and transport jets and helicopters.
Rosoboronexport also offers Lima projects for other types of the Russian arms and military equipment: one of the most demanded prospective Russian helicopters today for Peru’s air forces is the transport and fighter jet Mi-35M that operates in conditions of hot climate, in uplands and lowlands, takes off and lands on unequipped sites. Mi-35М is the only fighter helicopter in the world that can be applied for assault, transport and sanitary operations and transports eight armed troopers or 1.5 t of cargo.
During the exhibition Rosoboronexport will also offer its partners the last developments in training pilots and technicians for the air forces. These developments ensure more efficient training, safer flights, are time- and money-saving, increase the operation life of costly equipment. According to Rosoboronexport, adequate Russia’s pricing policy, that takes into account the economic opportunities of customer countries, is one of the factors that promotes the development of partnership relations between the two countries.
“Latin America is in the sphere of interests of Russian defense enterprises, that’s why participation in SITDEF-2009 is extremely important for us in terms of developing military and technical cooperation with our partners in this region, - as Sergey Ladygin, head of Russian delegation and head of the regional department of Rosoboronexport, commented. – Russian military equipment has been known for a long time on the defense market of Latin America, including Peru, and its excellent track record makes me sure that negotiations and meetings will be very productive".
