IDEF-2009, 9th International Defence Industry Fair, is taking place in Istanbul on April 27-30, 2009 under the aegis and with the support of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey. The organizer is Armed Forces Foundation of Turkey and the largest Turkish exhibition operator, TÜYAP Fairs and Exhibitions Organization Inc. Rosoboronexport, key Russian special exporter of arms and military equipment, is a traditional participant of this exhibition.Today IDEF is one of the largest regional defense exhibitions. The number of visitors in 2007 exceeded 40,000 specialists and 264 official delegations from 46 countries, with about 500 companies from 48 countries of the world.
Exposition of Rosoboronexport at IDEF-2009 includes a range of modern arms and military equipment with a considerable export potential for aviation, marine and on-ground equipment and air defense. The Russian delegation will not only show the latest achievements of the Russian defense enterprises but also hold meetings with official representatives of the participating countries and potential customers and organize presentations of the best military equipment. These events will continue the enhancement of Russian-Turkish military and technical cooperation that was manifested in the Declaration signed after the February negotiations in Moscow between Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey, and Dmitry Medvedev, President of Russia.
Russia also continues to expand military and technical cooperation with other countries of the region, including NATO members, keeping the balance of power and security in the region.
Basing on the interests of the potential local customers, Rosoboronexport will showcase at IDEF-2009 new helicopter equipment including the two-seat fighter helicopter Ka-52A. Its features are high maneuverability and reliability in the mountains due to the coaxial rotor system. The helicopter is equipped with a powerful 24h use armament system and modern avionics.
Other samples of Russian military defense technologies with high export potential include land equipment, with materials about widely known modernized multiple launch rocket systems and air defense systems. Taking into account the geographic location of many countries of the region with an extended coastline, Rosoboronexport advertises BM ships, guard and assault ships and boats, coast defense ships, diesel and electric-powered submarines, torpedoes, bombshells, rockets, coast surveillance systems, mobile on-shore missile systems.
An increased demand for patrol boats is expected till 2010, and Russian defense and industrial enterprises have something to offer to their foreign customers. An unsurpassed achievement of the Russian science and shipbuilding is the patrol boat 14310 “Mirazh’. Its peculiarity is high speed and sea navigation provided by an installed complex of controlled interceptors.
An important place in the exposition is given to different modifications of the previously supplied arms and military equipment in the form of implemented technical ideas that increase its fighting and operational characteristics with installation of night vision equipment and navigation systems, reconnaissance and communication assets and increase the automation of weapon control.

Currently Rosoboronexport is part of State Corporation Russian Technologies. Rosoboronexport accounts for over 80% of the entire Russian military export.
