Sheremetyevo shares experience with its Spanish colleagues, Sheremetyevo International Airport - Международный аэропорт Шереметьево

The management of International Airport Sheremetyevo, Moscow, met with representatives of Spanish Airports and Airspace (AENA) on January, 26. The meeting took place in the framework of the official visit to Russia of a Spanish delegation headed by Magdalena Álvarez Arza, Minister of Economic Development of Spain. The Spanish Embassy expressed its appreciation to Sheremetyevo for providing an insight into Airport’s operation under extreme weather conditions.As Javier Burgos Belascoaín, Economic and Commercial Advisor of the Spanish Embassy, Head of the Economic and Trade Office of Spain, noted in the official letter of the Embassy to the management of Sheremetyevo, “I would like to thank you for your attention to the AENA delegation during their stay in the Russian Federation. AENA representatives are greatly satisfied with the results of their visit and find it particularly useful for their further work”.
It should be noted that such weather conditions as icing and snowfalls, not typical for Spanish climate, have caused difficulties in operation of Burgos airport located in the north of Spain. In this regard, the Spanish delegation visited Sheremetyevo to get a detailed look at the operation of airport facilities under extreme weather conditions. In the framework of the visit the management of Sheremetyevo provided an airport development plan, demonstrated the operation of snow cutters and technology of anti-icing treatment of the runway and aircraft.
International Airport Sheremetyevo operates under all weather conditions and is certified according to the third IKAO category. Special equipment is installed on aircrafts belonging to carriers that make regular flights to Sheremetyevo; cabin crews are certified for work under extreme weather conditions.
