Moscow government makes Ivanovo airport the leading transport hub of the Central Federal Region

Moscow, December 19, 2008: Moscow Government announces a mass-scale program of upgrading Ivanovo airport. Its purpose is to make it a competitive international aviation and transport hub before 2015. As the airport management estimates, the airport can become a large aviation and transport hub of the Central Federal Region and the leading transit hub between the neighboring regions.

Possible important tourist routes and potential amounts of passenger traffic have been discussed at a round table organized by JSC AP Zolotoye Koltso on 18.12.2008 in the framework of cooperation of economic development and trade department of Ivanovo region, JSC AP Zolotoye Koltso, regional travel companies and owners of ticket offices.

Project of reconstructing Ivanovo airport is the only working project of the Moscow Government for 2009, according to Oleg Nikolsky, head of infrastructure projects division of the transport and communication department of the Government of Moscow. Investments of the Moscow Government amounted to 2 bln rubles.
