Helirussia 2011 opens on May 19 at Crocus Expo in Moscow, Focus Communication

Moscow, May 19: Helirussia, the fourth annual helicopter exhibition, opened today at Crocus Expo. May 19 was proclaimed ‘Day of Russian Helicopters’, title sponsor of Helirussia and the major Russian helicopter holding that has announced successful results of consolidating the Russian helicopter industry.
Helirussia 2011 was officially opened with a greeting from Dmitry Medvedev, President of Russia, delivered by Sergey Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, in the presence of Andrey Reus, General Director of Oboronprom, Dmitry Petrov, General Director of Russian Helicopters, Andrey Dementyev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Valery Okulov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia, and Mikhail Kazachkov, Chairman of the Board of Helicopter Industry Association.

Medvedev highlighted the significance of Helirussia as a major event that supports and promotes advancements in quality, innovations and modernization of the Russian helicopter industry showing the unique achievements of the Russian helicopter construction and engine construction companies to the world. Helirussia traditionally attracts foreign helicopter corporations such as Eurocopter and AgustaWestland and witnesses the growing attention of the foreign companies to the development of the Russian helicopter market.

Andrey Dementyev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, noted that the number of participants of Helirussia is growing every year, mainly through new foreign players which shows the growing international interest to the Russian helicopter industry. The new participants in 2011 are Sikorsky and Marenco Swisshelicopter Company with the first helicopter produced in Switzerland and unveiled at Helirussia 2011.

Dmitry Petrov, General Director of Russian Helicopters, the traditional title sponsor of Helirussia, was proud to announce successful consolidation of the Russian helicopter industry. Namely, Petrov mentioned that the aggregate volume of helicopter production in 2007-2010 was doubled. In 2010, helicopters produced by Russian Helicopters companies account for 13% of the world helicopter fleet. In terms of the results for 2010, Russian Helicopters rate third worldwide in terms of revenues among the helicopter manufacturers.

Helirussia 2011 will continue on May 20 with round tables on R&D, innovations and helicopter training systems, company presentations and an awards ceremony by Helicopter Industry Association, and on May 21 with events featuring the major Russian aviation universities. What’s remarkable, Helirussia has turned into an event that attracts both professionals and young specialists who plan to connect their lives with the helicopter industry.
