Russia to increase the number of mother rocket launches 50% in 2011 - Perminov

Moscow, Jan 31 (ARMS-TASS). According to Anatoly Perminov, Head of Roscosmos, Russia plans to increase the number of mother rocket launches 50% in 2011: "Launch of 48 mother rockets is planned for 2011, whereas 31 launch (with one unsuccessful) only was accomplished in 2010".As Perminov specified, "9 launches in the frame of the International Space Station (ISS) is planned for 2011. GLONASS' orbit group will be increased to 24 operational spacecraft".
"In October 2011, a "window" to launch "Phobos-Grunt" will open, with the support of Ukraine and Europe".
"The plans for 2011 are to approve the Arktika space system project, commission the meteorological satellite Electro-L launched in early 2011, launch remote earth sondage satellites, start construction of Vostochny space launch site in Amur region, make the first launch of Soyuz-ST mother rocket in August 2011 at Kuru space launch site in the French Guiane", commented Perminov.
Talking about international space cooperation, Perminov noted that in 2011 Roscosmos plans to "sign agreements with Israel, Vietnam, Nigeria, Belorussia, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela".
