Launch of a new large ingot facility at KUMZ, Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works (KUMZ) - ОАО "КУМЗ"

A new foundry facility for large ingots production has been launched at KUMZ on December 2. The new foundry facility will provide up to 60,000 t of products per year.
Alexander Misharin, Governor of Sverdlovsk region, Viktor Minenko, Chief Federal Inspector in Sverdlovsk region, Vladimir Skornyakov, President of Aluminum Products, Alexey Filippov, Managing Director of KUMZ, as well as other representatives of the Russian State Duma and Sverdlovsk regional government, and partner companies of the construction of the foundry facility and KUMZ clients, have taken part in the official launch ceremony.

Alexey Filippov, Managing Director of KUMZ, congratulated the audience with the launch of the new and highly efficient foundry facility with cutting edge equipment by the leading world manufacturers.

Aluminum Products, a managing company for KUMZ and other Ural and Moscow region consumer goods manufacturers, is in charge of strategic development of aluminum deep refining business.

The new foundry facility project, worth over 700 mln rubles, is compliant with the Federal Target Program for development of civil aviation equipment in Russia till 2015 and the Strategy for Russian metallurgy development till 2020. The new project at KUMZ continues mass-scale modernization of the foundry facilities.

The current expansion of KUMZ investment program is linked with the successful neutralization of the global financial crisis, stable financial performance, growth of sales and production and improvement of the market position. Over the 10 months of 2010 (against the corresponding period of 2009), production increase at KUMZ reached 34%, productivity (per capita) increased 36%, profits increased 56% and profitability grew 2.18-fold.
