Release Date: 2010-10-28
At Defensys 2010, the first international defense and security fair held in Greece in October 28-31, Rosoboronexport is presenting new Russian military equipment and arms, along with over 200 companies from 22 countries. It is notable that the opening day of Defensys 2010 coincides with the national Greek holiday "Ohi" (meaning "no"). On October 28, 1940 Greece rejected Mussolini's ultimatum that implied introduction of the troops in the Greek territory, which ultimately meant declaration of war. Today, global security and peace remain as important as 60 years ago, additionally charged with issues of terrorism, separatism and threats to regional stability, all of which requires modern arms and equipment for the military forces.
Russia, one of the leading military and industrial giants, is proud to present a wide range of modern equipment for the infantry, navy and air forces at Defensys 2010, on behalf of Rosoboronexport.
Aviation equipment accounts for 50% of Rosoboronexport's sales, mainly presented by multitarget jet fighters Su-30МК and Su-35, Yak-130, multitarget fighter MiG-35 that takes part in a tender for supplies of 126 jet fighters to India.
"Rosoboronexport is traditionally presenting a wide range of modern military equipment. I am sure that Defensys 2010 will be a success and will continue being one of the largest military fairs in the world. Greece is an important partner for Russia. Namely, the experience of the Greek Armed Forces proves that the Russian systems are a perfect match for any standards. Russia has a lot to offer to Europe in the field of new equipment, modernization of older equipment and joint developments and research", notes Nikolai Dimidyuk, Head of the Russian delegation and Director for Special Missions at Rosoboronexport.
