Sukhoi Superjet 100 successfully completes certification static tests, TsAGI - ЦАГИ

Release Date: 2010-09-15

September 15, 2010, Zhukovsky — Sukhoi Superjet 100 completes the full certification on-ground strength test program at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI).
The overall Program, developed by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company, incorporated 58 test cases.

All the main aircraft parts, including the fuselage, wing, vertical and horizontal stabilizers, lift devices, landing gear attachment points, pylon and power plant attachment points, as well as doors, flight deck and passenger cabin glazing and equipment fitting, have been subjected to extensive on-ground strength tests at TsAGI.

According to the test requirements, the airframe was extensively tested to study its structure behavior. The airframe components have been exposed to different loads up to 150% of the normal operating conditions performing at the expected level.

"Thanks to the high professionalism of TsAGI and SCAC engineers, we managed to get all the data confirming the SSJ100 safety," said Alexander Pimenov, SCAC’s Vice President, Design & Development. "The next step for SCAC will be to continue testing for further development of the SSJ100 product line."

"Our cooperation with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft on Sukhoi Superjet 100 program has a long history and is mutually rewarding for us," said Boris Alyoshin, Director General of TsAGI. "We have achieved significant progress. SSJ-100 has shown excellent performance during complicated tests such as fuselage dynamics at landing. Currently, TsAGI specialists are doing comprehensive research of aerodynamics, strength, control systems and fatigue to achieve the certification goals."

"Completion of the static testing Program is a significant milestone," said SCAC’s President Vladimir Prisyazhnyuk. "The results of "on-the-ground" strength testing allowed us to successfully test the aircraft's flight strength performance showing that Superjet continued to maintain the required structural integrity. The prototypes have already accumulated 842 flights for 2072 hours."
