Multi-Role Ka-32A11BC at Firefighting Show in Portugal , Russian Helicopters

Cascais, Portugal/5 October 2010 – Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of UIC Oboronprom, presented today at the second international helicopter exhibition Helitech-2010, taking place in a Lisbon suburb, its civil helicopter lineup. Today the holding company is offering European operators the EASA-certified multi-role Ka-32A11BC, and the light Ansat, Ka-226/226T, the medium Ka-62, Mi-8/17, and the heavy transport Mi-25TS. Jointly with Tranzas, Russian Helicopters is offering the international aviation market training solutions for pilots preparing to fly Russian-made rotorcraft.Russian-made rotorcraft, the Ka-32А11ВС in particular, play an important role in forest fire fighting in various countries worldwide, including Western Europe – and Portugal. Within the last three hazardous seasons in Portugal, the effective use of Ka-32А11ВС helped extinguish thousands of forest fires, saved thousands of hectares of farm ground, and prevented fires in a number of towns. Hundreds of tons of water were dropped on fires by the Ka-32А11ВС fleet alone. Grupo Faasa estimates that the total hours of the Portuguese Ka-32А11ВС fleet totaled 2500.
Over twenty Ka-32А11ВС are operated in Europe – in Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. They perform firefighting, police, medevac, and rescue missions, aid special services in their operations, and patrol the borders of EU countries.
A number of dedicated events will be held during the exhibition: an aerial firefighting and flight safety conference, seminars on innovative navigation technology, and a round table on environmental issues. Attendees will see demo flights with mock firefighting, and a parachute show. The Russian Ka-32А11ВС will be on the static display among a few dozen Russian helicopters.
