Aeroflot first to land on the new runway in Tolmachevo, Aeroflot - Аэрофлот

September 27, 2010, Moscow – Aeroflot's Moscow - Novosibirsk flight on 25 September saw the debut of the second runway of Tolmachevo airport in Novosibirsk. Landing of Aeroflot’s Airbus А320 heralds the start of operations of the new runway of the Novosibirsk airport. It will allow the airport significantly increase its throughput capacity and boost regularity of operations of the airport that is of strategic importance for Russia’s aviation infrastructure.
Tolmachevo was opened on July 12, 1957 when Aeroflot’s Tu-104 departed from the new Novosibirsk airport to Moscow. Aeroflot has resumed regular flights to Tolmachevo in 1995.

Currently, Aeroflot offers three flights a day from Sheremetyevo in Moscow to Tolmachevo. The number of passengers transported by the company in January - August 2010 on this route totals around 70,000 people.

The development of the Novosibirsk airport goes in line with Aeroflot’s strategy. The leading Russian carrier considers development of the route network in Russia as a task of paramount importance and intends to become the leader in Russian aviation industry in terms of domestic flights.
