Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works (KUMZ) is developing an investment program for installation and commissioning of new equipment that boosts the efficiency of the main facilities

According to Sergey Krasnoperov, Chief Engineer of KUMZ, the main works concern the commissioning of new foundry equipment that enables production of up to 60,000 t of foundry products per year. This investment project is especially important for KUMZ as the experience of commissioning modern foundry equipment in 2005-2006 enabled KUMZ start production for the leading international aviation companies. It is also expected to decommission some outdated foundry equipment.

The leading Russian and international companies, such as IST and ABB, are taking part in implementation of this project with KUMZ.

Official industrial commissioning of the new equipment is planned for October 2010.
