Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant Delivers 40 Mi-171 to UTair, Russian Helicopters

Ulan-Ude/13 September 2010 – Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAP), a part of Russian Helicopters industrial holding, has delivered 40 Mi-171 helicopters (in Mi-8AMT modification) to the commercial operator UTair. After the fortieth helicopter was accepted by UTair on 9 September 2010, the new Mi-171 departed the UUAP airfield, heading for its base in Tumen.“We’re finalizing our obligations pursuant to an important contract on the delivery of 40 Mi-171/Mi-8AMT helicopters,” says UUAP Managing Director Leonid Belykh. “This contract is one of the largest not only for UUAP, but for Russian Helicopters as a whole by the number of helicopters being delivered to a Russian commercial operator. We are proud of the work we’ve successfully completed and are ready to work on other orders from UTair or other commercial operators.”
The contract between UTair and Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant was signed in 2007. All helicopters were produced and delivered ahead of schedule, because UTair is one of the top priority partners for Russian Helicopters holding and Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.
UTair is the largest helicopter operator in the world by fleet number and weight-lifting capacity according to The Aircrafts State Register of the Russian Federation. It operates over 250 rotorcraft made by Russian manufacturers and other countries. Fleet capabilities and skilled personnel allow UTair to offer high quality, safe aviation operations of the highest complexity, all over the world. The Mi-8/17 helicopter is widely used in UN humanitarian missions, firefighting, transportation, search & rescue and other operations.
Russian Helicopters industrial holding is ready to consider a new order for the Mi-171 helicopter from UTair on a priority basis, guaranteeing the possibility of additional Mi-171 deliveries in a settled term. New modernised helicopter version based on the Mi-171 will be offered to UTair as to one of the most important customers.
