Russia and India discuss joint aviation projects , United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)

24th meeting of the Russian-Indian Interstate Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation took place in Moscow on Aug 30 – Sept 03. The Indian Subgroup was headed by Ashok Nayak, Head of HAL Corporation; the Russian Subgroup was headed by Alexey Fedorov, President of UAC, with the Ministry of Defense and the Staff of the Air Forces of India, the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation of Russia, Rosoboronexport and the Russian aviation and engine manufacturers and avionics companies among the other participants.
The meeting included talks of the leaders of the Indian industry and military sector with the Russian members of the Russian-Indian Interstate Commission, as well as visits to Zhukovsky and to the production facilities of Irkut Corporation where Su-30MKI is manufactured.

Some of the main issues of the agenda were the joint development of multipurpose transport aircraft and 5th generation fighter aircraft (FGFA), licensed production of Su-30MKI, RD-33 engine and development of AL-55I engine in India, supplies of nevel-based MiG-29K/KUB aircraft for the Indian Navy and modernization of the Russian aviation equipment supplied to India.

The decisions following the agenda of the Russian-Indian Interstate Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation will be presented to the Indian and Russian Ministers of Defense acting as Co-Chairs of the Russian-Indian Interstate Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation.
